The source of wealth.

Is the mind coupled with the labor that one does to create a product, service or to work for those who are brave enough to bet on themselves.  The business owner.

To begin a business you must have a vision or a plan to guide your business, it can be simple or complex and anywhere in between.  That can only come from the mind, put on paper by hand.  No business starts large.  It takes determined effort to start a business and it is not an accident.

If successful, he sells a product or service at a price people are to willing to pay, and it costs him less to produce that good or service.  That is not wealth.  Wealth is both real property and ideas put into action by others.   Only part of that is wealth, the rest is used for living expenses, taxes and charity.  Wealth itself makes money and provides a source of income to the owner.  This can take various forms.

One black lady became a millionaire by selling hair products and she amasses a very large fortune through selling her products, she had employees and paid their wages.  There was no income tax then and reputation and product performance is what kept sales going.  The company can be found at http://www.madamewalker.net and it is still in operation.  She started in the late 1800s looking for a way to make her hair healthy.  And she became wealthy by any objective standard.  She was not evil, she helped people solve their problems.

This woman’s mind and her efforts, made her wealthy.  Through her efforts a lot of people benefited from her products.  Without gaining a personal benefit there is no reason to do business with anyone.  It is a trade, not robbery.  It’s called capitalism and it works.  It has done more for people than any other ism out there.   There was no government grant, no guarantee of success, no safety net, no social contract.

Until recently there was no limit on the amount of success you could enjoy, sadly that is no longer true.  The progressive politicians and the onerous federal government has taken the position that only favored people may own and operate a business without confiscatory taxation and burdensome regulations that dictate every facet of business.    To add insult to injury local governments have taken a hands on meddling approach through onerous regulations and licensing requirements.   These regulations and enforcements are selective and a corruption of the American system of Free Enterprise.  Government now picks winners and losers by political donations

Until these governmental obstacles are removed there will be no prosperity and the high unemployment that plagues this country and many others will be endless.

The proof is in the results.  Check the period right after WW2 and see what the politicians did to get us out of the depression we were in.
